Mike Smith’s Human Resource Information Center

www.mikesmith-hr.com

Unlike his buccaneering namesake’s site, Mike Smith’s enormously helpful website describes HR as a profit enabler rather than a cost centre.

The website claims to be dedicated to one of the prime HR tenets you should not have to learn by making mistakes.

There are a lot of things that have been tried and worked or tried and failed (providing learning opportunities) that we can all share.

With 32 years experience as an HR and training professional, this Smith hasn’t spent too much time learning web development.

That said, this is where criticism of the site ends. Its simplistic design makes for the easy location of useful information of which there is bucket loads. Other more fancy websites could in fact benefit from a quick visit to the Smith design school of simplicity.

On this website browsers will find some examples, helpful advice and an opportunity to ask HR questions and receive practical, frank answers.

The site is open to feedback and having its content shaped by its readership. As a consequence the browsers of the site hold the future to its utility in their own hands. Get on thereand help make this great site even better.
