Adecco HR portal

www.thehrportal.com

Adecco’s HR portal is an international initiative dedicated to covering trends and issues in the HR profession, and covers a number of topical areas.

The large majority of content is targeted towards American and European HR practitioners, and as such, a number of sections such as ‘the law at work’ and ‘the HR calendar’ bear little usefulness for Australian HR professionals. However the remainder of the site contains a considerable number of gems. ‘Current HR hot topics’ is one such example, with articles on sustainable development and corporate social responsibility, proactive career development and the ageing workforce in Europe. ‘HR recruitment trends and strategies’ is another example, while ‘HR links’, ‘News roundup’ and ‘Financial viewpoint’ all present a number of useful insights for HR professionals. The site has a couple of downsides, however. A decent archive section would be handy for some columns, as would a search engine to target specific interest areas.

Aside from that, the remainder of the site is fine in terms of ease of surfing and design. While some of the main subject areas are similar in content, they are well laid out and Adecco’s branding is clear but not invasive. Amongst the global content it’s worth digging around to find some worthwhile viewpoints on both perennial and emerging HR issues.
