Office of the Employment Advocate

www.oea.gov.au

Since we last visited this website, the Office of the Employment Advocate has largely become the Office for Australian Workplace Agreements. While the office was set up to police the Workplace Relations Act 1996 guarantee of freedom of employee association with unions and employer associations, this has largely become dominated by the AWA process.

The employer’s section includes AWA forms, templates, statistics and examples, with comprehensive FAQ pages. There are also prominent links to AWA online, another Office of the Employment Advocate site where you can draft your own workplace agreements online.

The employer’s section also addresses freedom of association issues such as right of entry, coercion, strike pay and a detailed workplace relations guide of employer’s rights.

Design is refreshingly practical and professional. This is reflected in the well thought-out navigation, through a ‘related pages’ sidebar which automatically generates related topic links with each new page you visit. Any HR department that deals with AWAs will find this site valuable.

The website is updated on an almost daily basis and has become the one-stop shop for all you ever wanted to know about AWAs.
